Experience Summary


Extensive background as consultant, technical sales representative, systems engineer, instructor, and technician of computers and networks. His career began in electronics and computers in the US Navy, and he spent almost 20 years with Hewlett-Packard Co.


Since 1991 he has consulted on many Internet/intranet projects for government and private organizations. During this entrepreneurial period he co-owned Open Age Inc., a company specializing in Unix, network consulting and support.


Mr. Wiseman has excellent knowledge on the subject of the Internet, intranet, World Wide Web, Local Area Networks, and technologies in general. He has a proven track record of success in the network industry.


From 1991 to 1997 (back in the newer olden days) he and his company, Open Age Inc., provided consulting and support services to various organizations throughout the mid-Atlantic area to install their first Internet mail servers and other networking solutions. Mr. Wiseman later sold web servers and gateways to these clients, among the first in the D.C. area. The list includes:

Network Consultant, freelance, Present


Provides network consulting and installation services to various clients including non-profit community-based organizations. Installs Linux distributions to provide servers for e-mail, mailing lists, web, MYSQL, and file and print. Now focuses time on Open Source Software, installing and developing content management based websites for small business.


Technical Sales Representative, Open Age Inc., 1991-1998


Sold Internetworking solutions, LAN and WAN systems based on Unix, Novell NetWare, and Windows NT operating systems. Typical customers were commercial, associations, government agencies, and non-profits. Was a principle of Open Age from its inception in ’91 until its acquisition by Resource Consultants, Inc. in 1997. Open Age continued as a division of RCI.


Technical Sales Representative, Hewlett-Packard Co., 1978-1991


Sold real-time data acquisition and control systems and Unix workstations to military scientists and engineers and to government contractors. Consistently achieved assigned sales goals.


Field Systems Engineer, Hewlett-Packard Co., 1976-1978


Provided technical pre-sales and post-sales support to customers and HP sales representatives for real-time data acquisition and control and HP1000 minicomputer systems.


Software Instructor, Hewlett-Packard Co., 1975-1976


Developed and presented minicomputer programming courses on the Real Time Executive operating system to HP customers and internal personnel.


Computer Maintenance Training Specialist, Hewlett-Packard Co., 1972-1975


Developed and conducted training courses on minicomputer hardware for field maintenance personnel. Skills included logic level signal tracing using electronic measurement devices such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers. Students were internal HP engineers and HP customers.


Staff Specialist, Vitro Laboratories, 1971-1972


Wrote engineering support documents and worked on other projects in the U.S. Navy Tartar surface-to-air missile program.


VietNam War Veteran – U.S. Navy, 1963-1971


Maintained shipboard Naval Tactical Data System (NTDS) and radar equipment in destroyer, USS Mahan DLG-11. Served two deployments in Tonkin Gulf, VietNam. Achieved the rating of First Class Petty Officer - Data Systems Technician. Served final duty as Instructor, and later Lead Petty Officer of Examination Center, NTDS School Mare Island California.
